Van Leeuwen Artisan Ice Cream started simply from a classic yellow truck on the streets of NYC. Branding as an iconic american ice cream truck – but with a twist! All of Van Leeuwen’s ice cream is made in Greenpoint, Brooklyn from the most natural of ingredients… “perfected by nature not science”.
They have even branched out into their own vegan line of ice cream goodness – made with house made cashew milk, organic coconut milk, organic extra virgin coconut oil, organic cane sugar, pure cocoa butter and organic carob bean. If you’re not so vegan, their original recipe is merely fresh milk and cream, cane sugar and egg yolks – just as healthy and delicious!
Van Leeuwen has seven stores and multiple trucks in NY and LA… and counting! We were lucky enough to attend the opening of their FlagShip store in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Filled with delicious scoops (of the entire menu!), sundaes and BK Brewery Beer floats – the atmosphere was as sweet as ever.
With the store buzzing and onlookers eager to come the next day – Ben, Laura and Pete were mingling with guests and enjoying every second.
This June Laura, Pete and Ben also released their “The Van Leeuwen Artisan Ice Cream Cookbook”. Sharing over 100 vegan and classic recipes along and stories from the past 8 years of their operation.
