Meet the high energy wellness guru Alex Kate Knight.
Learn how at an early age a traumatic spinal injury ended her
chance to be a track athlete and how this vivacious Aussie turned
a curse into a blessing and put her life back on track.
I was a junior elite track runner in Australia. Unfortunately, I suffered a traumatic back injury in my early 20s, which led me to remove myself from track completely. In this time I was trying to fill a void, so when I was approached to start modeling I decided to give it a shot. At the time I was in my first year at university, studying Osteopathic medicine, medicine of the muscular & skeletal system. Shortly after commencing modeling, I was taken to London to pursue an international career, which was an exciting success. However, due to the practical demands and on-site presence required to complete my Osteopathic degree, I had to transfer to Biomedical Science (pre-med) in order to continue studying, as this was the only degree offered in health science via correspondence. I never really imagined this journey would be for as long as it has been — nine years. I thought I would get the Biomedical degree and head home to do Osteopathic medicine again!! Maybe, one day. Throughout my modeling career I have kept super fit and healthy practicing what I learn, and staying aligned with a structured and well-rounded workout routine; which I pass onto my clients that I train on my down time.
My approach is body type specific and sustainable, as wellness is a lifestyle, not a one hit wonder. To reap the rewards of a healthy lifestyle you must be consistent and seriously enjoy it. I like to approach a well-being structure that is appropriate to being a female. I approach my training with a strong focus on exercises that strengthen, exercise, elongate and balance the body. I approach nutrition through eating a well-rounded diet with digestible proteins, focusing on lighter dinners. In my everyday life, I concentrate on being centered, fulfilled and smiling.
My motivation comes from the feelings that come over me once I achieve my work out. The feeling of empowerment, pride, and strength are contagious. I live by ‘be the change’ both for myself and my greater existence.

My resistance bands and I make it rain in hotel rooms!! I also travel with a mini yoga mat. Simply flowing with a Pilates and yoga hybrid is the movement I need post-travel.
I have found my fitness pal and it is in the name of the Blue Camo Sporty Cece Backpack. It is so functional, yet sassy and fun. It can fit more than enough for my day, in fact it has become my travel go-to. With the built in laptop sleeve and unique pocket detail, there is room for everything without me looking like a turtle carrying it — a total winner. In a word… SportyLuxe!!
