“A fit, healthy body—that is the best fashion statement” ― Jess C. Scott
In New York City, fitness can be dissected into several parts. Fitness gyms are like like zagat-rated restaurants: you have your go-to’s that you use for the treadmill only, the places you’re willing to spend all your savings on for aesthetic, the hidden places, and the places you go only with a friend. Even if you’re not a fit fam hashtagger, surely you understand. If you live in New York City, you know there’s a place for everyone; here’s a few of my favorites.
If you need an extra push, try:
NYC Fun Run
NYC Fun Run, is like going to an extra circular club in the union of your university. You know that when you’re done you will all hangout but you have to get a few things done first. The NYC Fun Run meets every Wednesday at 7pm. Known as the “drinking club with a running problem”, welcomes runners of all levels.
Shape Up NYC
Shape Up NYC, is a free fitness program that combines yoga, zumba, and good music tastes into one. Have you ever stood in line for self-checkout and realized
Shape Up NYC is a free, drop-in fitness program with locations across the five boroughs. There is no class registration, simply show up to take fitness classes like aerobics, yoga, Pilates, Zumba, and much more. Our fitness instructors know how to make fitness fun!
Shape Up NYC is a free program.
Tone House, is a fitness regime with the who truly wants everyone to succeed, together—which is why he built his concept around teamwork. (It’s just that his team is, well, pro.) Trainers are super upbeat and encourage you without fail, and high fives abound.
As reported on Well and Good, Nothing sums it up better than this insight from a real Yelp review: “A fellow participant looked over at me and said, ‘Wasn’t that awful? I can’t wait to come back.’”
